Day 1 Plan- How do you spell Kyburz?

Hopefully I’ll be taking this route.

My first-day objective is to ride from the Antioch BART station in Antioch, CA, to Kyburz, CA. I’ll actually leave from my house, grab coffee at Peet’s, and (potentially) have a chat with Mike and Jeff before heading to BART.

Where I hope to get

I figured I could get away with taking BART because, hey, it’s powered by electricity. You might say, “That’s not a valid reason—that’s cheating. Why not just cross the country in a Tesla and pull your unicycle out for the last mile?”

Well, the answer is simple: I just thought of that now, and I already have too much sunk cost in this new unicycle.

After getting off BART in Antioch, the ride to Kyburz is about 134 miles with an elevation gain of around 5,800 feet. The first half of the ride crosses the flat Sacramento Delta; the second half winds through California’s gold country.
